Grad Guide 2011

The Grade Guide is a collection of important information from the 11 accredited Architecture Schools in Canada. For employers, the guide clarifies how each school is offering its own focus or approach to research and practice. It was initiated by a grant received from the RAIC (Royal Architecture Institute of Canada). The fundamental strategy was to offer a perspective into the schools’ quantitative and qualitative aspects while not ranking them.

The Grad Guide also attempts to clarify recent changes in the way aspiring architects obtain an accredited education in Canada. While the pedagogical structure varies from school to school, the path to practice now entails a Master’s degree, replacing the professionally accredited five-year Bachelor of Architecture. The new framework opens up architectural education to those from other disciplines, while allowing students with previous architectural experience to consider new learning environments. At the moment the current Grad Guide is 6 years old and we plan to make it an online resource instead. Within the guide you’ll find the following:

  • The Schools Philosophy;
  • The Architecturally available (Masters/Undergraduate) programs at that School of Architecture;
  • Statistics of each school;
  • Bursaries and Fanancial Assistance;
  • List of professors and their specializations;
  • Social Activities (Student Group Organizations);
  • International Opportunities (if any);
  • Student survey As you can see it’s fully loaded with answers to your most obvious questions.

Grad Guide 2011 will be on the website October 2011.

National Portfolio 2008-2009

The National Portfolio will be a publication which will showcase the next generation of Canadian Architectural Design. The publication will adhere to CASA’s vision of creating a national student dialogue; it will be a platform on which current student work is exposed. This endeavor will be providing the opportunity to promote peer critiquing, and encourage interaction between schools of architecture across Canada.  It’s launch is projected to be at the end of this month.
